Now that the clocks have changed and the nights are drawing in, what is a petrolhead meant to do at the weekend if they live in Hampshire and want to get out and about, with or without the family?
Here is a short list of ideas that may provide some enjoyment throughout the upcoming wintery months;
Beaulieu
A visit to Beaulieu would be an obvious starting point. Situated just outside Southampton in the New Forest and then down towards the sea, where else could be nicer?
With its National Motor Museum, Palace House and Gardens, there is enough to keep all the family entertained for the day. Check out their website for special events of many flavours, particularly in December with a variety of Christmas themes and Festive Fayre!
Beaulieu are open all year round apart from Christmas Day. We must say , we like the sound of the New Forest VW Santa Run where classic VW's meet in the morning and then head off to the Piam Brown unit at Southampton General Hospital, taking presents and raising money for this well deserved causes. Participation tickets are limited so book early if you want to take part or book tickets to view the vehicles and watch them set off at around 11am. This is just one of many events taking place between now and the end of the year.
Lyndhurst
On your way out of the forest, a real must would be a visit to Lyndhurst. Park in the pretty High Street and take a walk to Meridien Modena the official Ferrari Dealer in the New Forest.
There they have a couple of beautiful showrooms housed in exquisite listed buildings. Such a unique appropriately designed setting, the perfect backdrop to show off such incredible automotive technology. With stock of some 20 or so cars, there will definitely be something there to put a smile on your face!
Thruxton Race Circuit
If you fancy something a bit more hands on, then to the north in Hampshire, close to the Wiltshire border is the Thruxton Race Circuit.
You can choose from one of the many driving experiences that they have to offer and actually get behind the wheel of a variety of cars.
Also in the winter months there are "Off Road" experience days, "Skid Pan" experience days and even a "Coffee Run Sunday" where you bring along your own car and talk to other enthusiasts.
Throughout the year there are Race Meetings, Historic Events, a British Touring Car Sunday Review and much much more, so take a trip to what is known as the UK's fastest circuit.
The Watercress Line
If you want to leave your petrolhead behind, then the Watercress Line in Alresford, is always worth a visit. You can step back in time and get lost in all the paraphernalia of railways from a bygone age!
